DESCRIPTION:Greetings Fellow Field Trippers\, \nYour Club is happy to announce that we will be having a Field Trip on SUNDAY\, July 19\, to the Midwest Concrete Materials sand pit between Perry and Lecompton.  The address is:  778 Lecompton Rd.\, Perry\, KS 66073.  Just north of the Kaw river on the East side of the road between Perry and Lecompton.  You can’t miss it.  We will meet at 8:30am SHARP for Sign-In and Group Photo.  We had several stragglers last trip so please be on time as we will disperse to hunt treasures at 9:00. \nWe will be limited to 2 – 5 gallon buckets of rock per person.  Feel free to bring a wagon to haul your buckets.  We will stay away from all machinery as well as the water as the sand banks are prone to collapse.  Bring plenty of water\, sunscreen\, bug spray and wear STURDY shoes.  You may bring small digging tools but there is an abundance of rock so you should be fine surface collecting. \nAs a reminder\, everything on the property is a business asset that is sold for profit.  This is not the place to collect buckets of sand for the kids sand box or gravel for that low spot in the driveway.  We are privileged to have this access so just collect interesting rock/mineral specimens.  Also\, after you have gone home and had a chance to high grade your findings\, please consider donating some of your treasure to the Club to use at our annual Show in October for the Silent Auction\, Scholarship Table\, Pebble Pile and to donate at our monthly business meeting for the Junior Rockhound Program.  And please bring your best finds (and a Note describing the piece) to fill a Field Trip Show Case at the Show. \nAny questions just drop me an email.  Hope to see you all there!

DESCRIPTION:Greeting Fellow Field Trippers\, \nTTGMS is happy to announce that we will be having a Field Trip\, Sunday\, June 28. \nFor the Field Trip we will meet at the Midwest Concrete Materials quarry at 9:00am for Instructions and Group Photo.  The quarry is located approximately 1 mile south of the Kansas River at Wamego on the west side of 99 highway. \nWe will be allowed a maximum of 2 – 5 gallon buckets of specimens per individual.  Feel free to bring a cart to haul your buckets if you so desire.   Small hand digging tools may be used but I think most folks just surface collect.  It’s June in Kansas so expect it to be hot and could be rainy???  Wear sturdy footwear and bring plenty of water.  Don’t forget a sun hat or sunscreen.  Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult (duh).  We must stay away from the machinery and the water as the shoreline is sand and prone to collapse.

The theme will be Limestone and Copper.  Can you guess where we will be going?\n\nThe Kansas State Capitol Building.  We will meet inside the Capitol at 10:00am (when it opens).  This will be a self-guided tour like at the History Museum.  We will have an hour and 15 minutes to look around until our scheduled Dome Tour at 11:15.  If you don’t get around the rest of the building by then\, you can resume the self-guided tour after the Dome Tour.  296 steps.  Bring you hiking shoes.

DESCRIPTION:Your Field Trip Committee is delighted to announce that the May 18th field trip will be in search of fossils at Turkey Point south of Osage City near Melvern Lake.  We will meet east of Osage City at the commuters parking lot on the corner of 75 and 31 highways for sign in and group picture.  Please come early – we’ll be there 9:00ish.  Plan on  heading out at 10:00 sharp.  We will be searching around a three corner intersection.  Please be on high alert for traffic at all times.  This is a good place to make Safety Vests mandatory.  Hope to see you there.
